Paddocks is a community primary school and admissions are the responsibility of the Local Authority. Applications must be made through their offices at:

Under the Education Act parents can express a preference for any school but parents do not have a right to choose a school.
Every school serves a specific area called the ‘catchment area’. Children who live permanently in this area and who are joining the school at the normal age of entry are assured of a place as long as the parent nominates the school and applies in writing by the deadline on a form obtainable from the school office.
Parents may nominate up to two schools if they wish, but a place will be allocated at only one school. It is important to understand that it may not be possible to allocate a place at their catchment area school unless it is one of the two schools nominated. If a parent applies for a catchment area place at a school and moves out of the area before the closing date for applications, they must inform the Area Office and they will then be considered as an ‘out-of-catchment area’ applicant. If a place can then be offered, the parent will normally be responsible for providing transport to the school. Details of catchment areas are available from the Pupil Services Team at the Area Education Office.
Places will be allocated to comply with Infant Class Size Legislation. This legislation restricts all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes to a maximum of 30 pupils with one qualified teacher. Our published admission number (PAN) is also 30 pupils per year group, unless otherwise agreed by the Local Education Authority.
All your preferences will be considered at the same time against the oversubscription criteria applicable to the relevant school. In the case of oversubscription, priority is given to applicants who live nearest the school measured by a straight line from school to the child’s home address.
When the School is given the names of the new intake, children are invited to come into school for a 'move up morning' during the summer term, to join in with activities in the E/Y’s classrooms and familiarise themselves with the environment.
Joining Paddocks in an existing year group
When children move from another school within the same year, these are called 'in-year admissions'. You can apply to move your child to Paddocks at any time of the year; for example if you move address or want to change school for another reason.
Parents/carers are requested to make an appointment with the Headteacher. You will be invited to visit and tour the school and discuss admission details with the Headteacher.
We would advise you to contact the school or Suffolk County Council Admissions team to check the availability of places in the year group you require.
