In Suffolk, you can rank up to three preferences when you apply for a school place, although the local authority cannot guarantee a space to any child at any time.

Under the Education Act parents can express a preference for any school but parents do not have a right to choose a school. It is against the law for children in an infant class (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) to be taught in a class of over 30 pupils with one qualified teacher. This infant class size legislation into account when allocating school places and when appeals are heard   Additional children may be admitted under limited exceptional circumstances, these are outlined in the School Admissions Code.

All your preferences will be considered at the same time against the oversubscription criteria applicable to the relevant school. In the case of oversubscription, priority is given to applicants who live nearest the school measured by a straight line from school to the child’s home address. Our published admission number (PAN) is 30 for each class.

When the School is given the names of the new intake, children are invited to come into school for a 'move up morning' during the summer term, to join in with activities in the E/Y’s classrooms and familiarise themselves with the environment.

Joining Paddocks in an existing year group

When children move from another school within the same year, these are called 'in-year admissions'. You can apply to move your child to Paddocks at any time of the year; for example if you move address or want to change school for another reason.

Parents/carers are requested to make an appointment with the Headteacher. You will be invited to visit and tour the school and discuss admission details with the Headteacher.

We would advise you to contact the school or Suffolk County Council Admissions team to check the availability of places in the year group you require.
