Take a tour of Early Years at Paddocks Primary School!
Early Years tour
Here at Paddocks we endeavour to give every child a positive introduction to school life. We have formed strong bonds with the pre-school nurseries in our local area and visit many, ensuring an effective transition for our new intake children. We have worked to create an environment that offers a smooth move from nursery education into school life ensuring the children feel a valued part of the school community.
Children are given both a reading book and a library book to share at home. Parents are encouraged to take an active part in their child’s learning and are welcomed into the school during the year - for example for a phonics afternoon or a shared reading session. Parents can also follow their child’s learning journey through regular updates on Seesaw and Google Classroom.
We aim to create a learning environment that enables children to develop their naturally inquisitive natures in a safe and supportive way. We plan activities linked to our half-termly topics, evolving with the children through exploring and understanding their interests and ideas. Our aim is for exploring to be purposeful and creative. Activities are both adult-led and child initiated. This balance proves an effective transition into Year One and beyond.
